      Hemp Heart Pesto

Substitute hemp hearts for pine nuts while creating unique pesto recipes for your customers.

Our Shelled Hemp Seeds (hearts) can be used just about anywhere an almond, sesame seed, pine nut, or any other nut or seed is used. The flavor is very similar to a pine nut and a sesame seed, which makes it a unique substitute to use in pestos and dips. 2 Cups Fresh Basil Leaves, stems removed

      2 Cloves Garlic, peeled

1/3 Cup Hemp Shelled Seeds (Hearts)

1/2 Cup Parmesan Cheese, ideally fresh

      1/4 Teaspoon Salt

      1/4 Teaspoon Pepper

      1/2 Cup Olive Oil

Or, for a vegan pesto, substitute for the parmesan cheese:

      1 Tablespoon Lemon Juice

      3 Tablespoons Nutritional Yeast

Put basil, garlic cloves, along with the pine nuts, cheese (or lemon juice + nutritional yeast), salt, and pepper into food processor and lock the lid. Pulse several times to create a coarse mixture.

Add olive oil to the basil mixture slowly while the food processor is running on low.

After the olive oil is all in, turn the food processor to high.  Allow it to run for about 30 seconds.

Taste and add additional salt or pepper to taste. Now your pesto is ready!
